Fitness Workouts & Bodybuilding Workouts - Importance of Being Fit and In Shape

If you are new to fitness and bodybuilding I suggest you keep on reading. If you have already been “into” the fitness or bodybuilding lifestyle for a while you can just go ahead and go straight to the goodies on the left hand side navigation bar.

For beginners we have compiled a short narration on the home page here on the importance of physical fitness. For a more detailed read on why is physical fitness important you can click the link. The purpose of it is to motivate you. This will help you decide to turn a new page and start applying some of our fitness workouts or bodybuilding workouts at the gym.

Let’s start of with the very definition of physical fitness. Without looking up this definition on the various search engines let us simplify it. Without looking up this definition on the various search engines let us simplify it.

Being fit means being in decent shape and feeling good and not getting winded if you walk up a flight of stairs or feeling fatigued after carrying those grocery bags out of your car to your house. You get my point.

Now let’s take a look at the five components of fitness which are:

  • flexibility
  • cardio endurance (stamina)
  • muscle endurance (this really just means how many repetitions can you do of a given exercise)
  • muscle strength (this is essentially how much weight you can lift at one time)
  • body (fat) composition (this element shows the ratio of fat in your body to lean muscle mass)

These health related fitness components have different meanings to different people. If you are a guy like me (more into bodybuilding workouts than fitness workouts) you will probably place more importance on the muscular components and body fat composition. If you are a pro-athlete you might be looking at all of the above components to be of great importance.

If you are a skinny guy you might be interested in the two muscular components only and more specifically in intense bodybuilding workouts to build mass. The point is that, every one of us has different fitness needs and goals. I personally have never had the need to be freakishly flexible. I don’t think its something that will classify me as physically “unfit” should I have below average flexibility.

Thus, the types of fitness workouts or bodybuilding workouts we select will depend on our desired goals as well as other factors such as age, time constraints and physical abilities. To read a more in-depth narrative on the components of physical fitness click here.


Why is physical fitness important?

The values of physical fitness can never be overstated. In short, health and fitness are directly linked to one another. Here is a short list of some of the main benefits of fitness:

  • positively impacts your overall sense of wellbeing
  • improves the way you look physically
  • gives you more confidence
  • helps strengthen your body internally and reinforce your immune system
  • elevates your metabolism and makes your body more efficient at utilizing calories and burning fat
  • improves your strength and endurance
  • lowers the risk of back pain and other injuries

Hence, you realize that fitness is something that is, in today’s fast-paced world, extremely important. I and the friends I know certainly cannot imagine our lives without fitness being a part of it. I often tell newbies to fitness to look at fitness as a long term approach to treating your body right. It is not something that you should expect to yield results in one or two months. Rather, you should have that long-term mindset and trust that all the work you put in at the gym will at some point pay off many times over. For some people sooner, for others a bit later.

Implementing fitness workouts or bodybuilding workouts takes consistent effort. If you are willing to give your best effort, you will be on the path to achieving all your fitness goals!

When you start yourself on a physical fitness program or bodybuilding workout plan you shouldn’t be stepping on a weight scale every single day or looking at yourself in the mirror for too long either for the first couple of months. Just keep at it and the results will come. Persistence and motivation are key. Fitness workouts and bodybuilding workouts need time. Given time and regular workouts good results are inevitable! Remember that!
