Eat Before Bed to Gain Muscle Quick

Your muscle-building strategy needs to based on science instead of relying on myths and hear-say.

Do you know that the worst thing you can do when you want to gain muscle quick is to go to bed with an empty stomach.

During sleep, your body and muscles are recovering from your workout and the day’s activities.

Therefore, it's important that you supply your body with nutrition to aid in the recovery (and muscle-rebuilding) process.

If you are constantly going to bed on an empty stomach, you won't be able to see any quick muscle gains because your muscles won't be getting the nutrition they need.

Think about this.

You are most likely going to sleep for about seven or eight hours, and on an empty stomach, you force your body to starve the entire night.

To gain muscle quick you have to end this forced period of starvation. This doesn't mean that you need to stuff your face with a five-course meal before bed.

That would only cause indigestion and poor sleep. Instead, all you need to do is eat a small snack half an hour before bedtime so that you give your muscles the required nutrients handy for the next eight hours.

In essence, you are aiming to keep your body in an anabolic state for as long as possible so that it can recover and rebuild muscle tissue.

This will help you to gain muscle quick.

With a pre-bedtime meal, your will be providing your body with all necessary nutrients that will be released gradually while you are sleeping.

When you keep your body in an anabolic state during sleep, much less muscle tissue is broken down.

The best pre-bedtime snack should have some (good) unsaturated fats, amino acids and slow release carbohydrates and proteins to aid in the muscle-recovery process.

A really good source of protein is whey protein. You should consume about 25-35 grams of whey protein mixed with about 400-500 ml of skim milk.

The Casein (slow realease type of protein), present in the milk, will slow down the release of all the nutrients, including the whey protein.

The protein will take about four hours before it's completely digested by your body. During this time, you will experience anabolic growth that will help you gain muscle quick.

Another good source of solid protein is Cottage cheese because it's rich in casein and glutamine.

In addition, you should consume a small serving of a slow release complex sugar before you go to bed. This could be a small yogurt, a small bowl of oatmeal or a slice of whole-grain bread. All of these will gradually be released into your system and they will keep your body’s glycogen stores up for as long as possible because they regulate your blood sugar levels.

Furthermore, you should also add some good fat to your pre-bedtime snack. This will naturally slow down the digestive process, which is exactly what you want out of your digestive system while you are sleeping.

Thus, you can consume olive oil and flaxseed oil (just one tablespoon), and ensure that the process of digestion is slowed down and that your body optimizes it's muscle-rebuilding process by staying in an anabolic state for longer. This is something that will help you gain muscle quick.... really quick!

Another good option for a healthy fat is all-natural peanut butter. This is also a great time to take a glutamine supplement if you are already using it as a part of your nutrition program. Simply mix one or two teaspoons of glutamine powder into your protein shake.
